Utah Ski & Golf TipsUtah Ski TipsExtreme skiers and seasoned veterans don't have any problems gracefully carving their way down the slopes. However most of us aren't that blessed and need a little help from time to time. For those us us who love to ski but haven't quite mastered all the tactics here's a tip on how to carve your way down the slopes on your next Utah ski vacation.
Here are extreme skier Chris Davenport's tips for executing the perfect turn:
1. Aim your chest directly downhill, regardless of the angle of your skis. After all you don't want to do to the side, you want to go downhill.
2. Lean forward, instead of leaning back. Proper form is to hold your hands out in front of you as if gripping a bicycle handlebar. You should feel your ankle and foot pressing against the tongue of your boot, not against the heel.
3. Unweight (but don't lift) the inside foot. If you're turning left, unweight the left foot. If right, then unweight the right foot. Straighten the outside leg to about 15 degrees and drive it down into the snow, as if you are cornering on a bicycle.
Once you put these tips into effect you'll be carving down the slopes like a pro!
